Magnetic reconnection is one of the fundamental processes in which energy
is converted from magnetic field to particles. It has been studied for
long history of time and many interesting findings have been disclosed.
Meanwhile, numerous big questions are left unsolved.
The US-Japan workshops and schools on magnetic reconnection aim to discuss
recent development of research on magnetic reconnection and to encourage
collaborations between interdisciplinary groups in laboratory, space and
astrophysical plasmas.
The scientific topics include:
- Heating, Energy Partitioning and Particle Acceleration through Reconnection
- Kinetic Physics of the Reconnection Layer
- Plasmoids and Flux Ropes
- Guide Field Reconnection
- Astrophysical and Relativistic Reconnection
- General Reconnection Physics
- Asymmetric Reconnection
- New Trends
